Before purchasing any skid steer attachment, we suggest you consider this information:
Knowing the width of your skid steer will allow you to purchase an attachment that fits it correctly. To determine the width of your skid steer loader, you need to measure the distance between the outer edges of the tires or tracks. This can also be referred to as the overall width. Another way to determine the width of your machine is the check the manufacturer's specifications for your specific skid steer or track loader.
The skid steer lifting capacity is the max weight that your machine can safely carry. To know the maximum weight capacity of your skid steer, check the specifications or your make and model. In there, you will find the rated operating capacity, or ROC. This is the weight that a skid steer can lift at 50% of it's tipping capacity. To be safe, you should always follow your manufacturer's recommendations to avoid overloading your skid steer.
To determine your skid steer gallons per minute, or GPM, you have two different options. First, you can check your owner's manual for your skid steer make and model. If you would like to check the flow yourself you can always use a flow meter which is a device that attaches to your hydraulics and displays the flow rate on a digital screen. Standard flow is typically 18-25 GPM and high flow is typically rated anywhere from 30-45 GPM.
Note: Each skid steer attachment available at SkidPro has a list of specifications that includes its width, weight, and required flow.
