Commonly Asked Questions
A skid steer concrete bucket is a type of attachment for a skid steer loader that can be used to transport and pour concrete. It consists of a metal bucket with a hydraulic or manual gate. The operator can control the concrete flow by opening and closing the gate. A skid steer concrete bucket can be useful for small to medium-sized projects that require precise and efficient concrete placement.
Our skid steer concrete bucket can hold 5/8 yard of concrete, making it suitable for even large jobs.
You can use a simple formula to know how much a 5/8 of liquid concrete weighs. A concrete yard is 27 cubic feet, and a cubic foot weighs about 150 pounds. So, 5/8 yard of concrete is 27 * 5/8 cubic feet, which is 2,531.3 pounds. That's a lot of weight, so make sure you have a sturdy truck or trailer to transport it!
Yes, our skid steer buckets are compatible as attachments with most loader types. However, you must match the features with your existing loader to check the compatibility.
Skid steer concrete buckets and concrete mixer attachments may seem similar, but are different in terms of functionality, complexity, and application. Buckets are meant to transport and pour mixed concrete, while a mixer attachment mixes gravel, sand, and more on construction sites. They also transport and pour the mixture. A concrete bucket has fewer moving parts, while a mixer is more complex and works on a motor. Capacity-wise, concrete buckets are better than mixers.
I'm Josh with Skid Pro. Today, we're going to take a look at our heavy-duty concrete bucket. Nothing earth-shattering here; this isn't rocket science, but there are some little features that we utilize that we think really positively impact the customer's performance of this unit.
First, we start with weight and strength. We start with the backtop, which is a crimped steel, about five inches in the front, and underneath that ties into the back into the reinforced attach plate. So right out of the gates, we've got that strength. Obviously, wet mud has a good amount of weight, so we want this to be able to hold up. We've got side plates that are also reinforced at the corners, and everything is heavily gusseted. The same thing goes for the inside, where we have some gussets as well.
This is a half-yard capacity bucket, and we run 15-inch wide steps with an aggressive tread, extra-long on both sides, making the cab entrance safer and easier. We keep the profile as low as possible and maintain a width of only 63 inches, which helps us maneuver into tight spaces, which is the whole point of a mud bucket on the front of a skid loader. We bevel in the lip, which goes to an eight-inch wide chute for easy and consistent pouring and placement. We have steel markers on the inside that allow good visibility for the operator when they're filling the bucket. We top it off with wear bars at the bottom for that structural rigidity and long-term durability. All in all, a very simple but strong and effective design.
